In Kettering, Kate Williams and Andy
Corner have been working with St Marys School and Kettering Borough
Council to develop local residents’ thoughts on the future of
both
school and adjacent park. The redevelopment of the former could
mean change for the latter and much of the work has focused on how
this might be a positive thing for the whole
local community. Through a series of events and detached, outreach
activity, a wide range of residents have been involved in the
consultation with local young people having a key say in how they
would like their local park to change. Many of their ideas will now
be taken forward to the next stage of discussion, during which we
will be inviting them to develop their ideas and to begin to create
something that could become reality in the not too distant
future.
Kettering Voluntary Network - run by Groundwork - goes from strength to strength. After a very successful first year of operation, the service has now partnered with its sister service in Corby - CVCS - to provide more effective support across both areas. This will include a number of joint events, a conference on funding sustainability and a host of training courses.
